And the winner of the 2014 Miss World pageant is....Miss South Africa, Rolene Strauss!
The 22-year-old beauty queen was crowned onstage at the competition's grand final at the Excel London ICC Auditorium on Sunday. Strauss, the daughter of a doctor and nurse, is a fourth-year medical student.
Donning a high, blue and golden jeweled crown and pale pink, off-the-shoulder, romantic-style, cleavage-baring, ruffled evening gown, Strauss waved and smiled at the crowd.

Miss Giuseppina Baafi is Miss Ghana 2013. The twenty two year old accounting student beat of competition from 20 other ladies in this year's edition of the contest.

Magaret Kuma-Mintah and Crystal Selorm Amudzi took 1st and 2nd runner up respectively.

The winner will walk away with a brand new car, cash prize, one year full-time service with Miss Ghana Foundation, one year accommodation at the Miss Ghana House donated by Manet Properties among other prizes.

The reigning Miss World Wenxia Yu, and Chairwoman of the Miss World organization Julia Morley as well as some members of their backroom staff, have arrived in Accra.

The eight-man delegation jetted in on Monday evening, and was met on arrival by the reigning Miss Ghana Naa Okailey Shooter and her first runner up Nadia Ntanu, as well as some officials of Exclusive Events Ghana including Inna Maryam Patty.

The bright outspoken Gambian born Maria Sawaneh, formally known as Miss West Africa Germany, took the most popular African pageant title Miss West Africa International, when she was called centre stage on Saturday 23rd March to be crowned between Zalia Maiga, the 1st Runner-up from Mali, and Hawa Kamara, the 2nd Runner-up from Sierra Leone.


The beautiful Maria is the first Gambian to take the international title and also the first Miss West Africa queen with a foreign title to be recognized as Miss West Africa International.

Melissa Chikurema is this year's Miss 21st February Movement after she beat 28 other contenders at a glittering event held in Rainbow Towers' Jacaranda Room over the weekend. The executive secretarial student at Trust Academy won a whopping US$3 000 plus a return air ticket courtesy of Air Zimbabwe to a regional destination of her choice.

The 21-year-old beauty from Mashonaland Central impressed the judges, among them former Miss Zimbabwe Malaika Mashandu.

Miss West Africa International can confirm that major telecommunications company Unitel have become the official title sponsors of the International pageant event for 2013.

Now only a month away, Africa’s most popular pageant will take place on the 23rd of March 2013 in Praia, Cape Verde. The event is set to witness the participation of the President and the First Lady of the country during the queens’ visit.

D.Sinatra Entertainment in conjunction with Miss West Africa International are set to bring the Miss West Africa Nigeria 2013 to Asaba, Delta State this February!

Camping starts from Sunday 17th February 2013, with crowning of the Queen at the Grand Finale on the Saturday 23rd February 2013. The winner will be going home with a brand new car and will be representing Nigeria at the Miss West Africa International on the 23rd of March 2013 holding at Cape-Verde.

Miss Ghana Foundation, the charity arm of the Miss Ghana pageant on Boxing Day, donated items worth thousands of Ghana cedi to the Teshie Orphanage in Accra.

Items including beverages, confectionaries, soft drinks, and general consumer goods were donated to the Orphanage. The Foundation also donated an undisclosed sum of money to the facility.

Led by Miss Ghana 2012 Naa Okailey Shooter and her two runner-ups Nadia Ntanu and Jennifer Annan, the team also organized a mini Christmas party for the children.

Strange as it might seem, the much hyped Miss Curvy 2012 won by Mildred Shumba, an A-Level student, is growing with each year and many big women take it seriously just like any other beauty contest. Shumba stood out from the rest and that she is this year's title holder is unquestionable. She should use the title to open more doors for her since she is still in school

The US$5 000 pledge from businessman Wicknell Chivayo should help to empower her not as Miss Curvy but as a woman.

With less than two weeks to go till the Miss World final, tension is rising amongst the competing beauties.  Currently in the talent stretch of the competition, the ladies are in Ordos, China.
